Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before sliding over the escape zone, and was fortunate to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
